For over 118 years, and four generations of family operation, Rinaldi Printing & Packaging has taken our environmental responsibilities seriously. As Steve Rinaldi Sr. put it so succinctly, “Of course it’s important, we live here too!”.
Our continuing efforts to minimize our environmental impact are not just beneficial to our planet, it is simply good business practice, there is no need to be wasteful or indifferent. Here are just a few of the things we do:
100% of our paper purchases are from paper merchants that support sustainable forestry practices from their paper mills. We believe that proper forest stewardship provides a renewable, minimum impact source of paper fiber, which protects the forestland and watershed, while creating economic value for the landowner.
Our inks are vegetable-based with organic pigment containing low VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). Ink is delivered to our presses from vacuum-sealed reusable containers, which minimize waste, and maximize the utilization of the ink.
Years ago our Prepress Department was one of the first to adopt a completely digital workflow. No wastewater, no silver, no film, no chemistry. Our plates are laser imaged and processed with no waste streams. All used plates are recovered and recycled.
We recycle – Although we have purchased and implemented sophisticated software and technology that minimize waste, there are still waste streams that can be captured and re-used. All of our metal press plates, paper trim, make-ready paper, and excess ink are recycled!
